This week, I want to introduce you to someone truly special: Ghaidaa, a passionate woodworker, educator, and all-around creative powerhouse who’s carving out something beautiful in Berlin — literally. Her story begins in Cairo, where Sunday strolls through the historic alleys of Fatimid Cairo sparked a lifelong love for craft. While other kids played, Ghaidaa watched tentmakers and copper workers with awe, but it was the woodworkers who truly captured her imagination. By 2015, she was learning traditional carpentry in Egypt, dreaming of opening her own workshop. She bought tools, built her first side table (as a bribe to win her parents’ support), and kept going. Life took her on a detour, scholarship abroad, moving countries, but the dream never faded. Fast forward to 2023 in Berlin: Ghaidaa is now teaching hands-on workshops that blend Islamic art and woodworking, and she’s not just building furniture, she’s building community. Her classes welcome everyone, regardless of background or skill level, and she brings her experience as a training manager and educator into every session. “I love seeing that moment when someone looks at their creation and says, ‘Wait, I made this?!’ That joy never gets old," she explains what makes teaching so enjoyable for her. We recently worked together in a consultation, and I was deeply touched by what she shared after: “You helped me think strategically and emotionally. I left with both inspiration and spreadsheets. That’s a rare combo!” If you’re in Berlin and curious to try woodworking in a warm, inclusive, and inspiring space, keep an eye on Ghaidaa’s workshops. You’ll leave with more than just a wooden object. You’ll leave with pride, presence, and probably a new friend. Stay curious, Anna-Liisa ps. You will find the list of her upcoming workshops here. Book a free consultation with me and let’s talk about how I can help you to start making things happen. |

A few years ago, Marta joined one of my creative workshops in Berlin. She was new to the city, in the middle of big life changes, and unsure how to turn her love for creativity into something real. She joined my coaching program full of hope, ideas, and curiosity, but quickly realized something important: She wasn’t ready. Not because she lacked skill, but because she needed time. Time to rebuild trust in herself. Time to settle. Time to listen. And then, at her own pace, something shifted....

Dear Reader, Thank you for being a member of Berlin Wood Sisters community. It is so important to bring diversity and inclusion into male dominated woodworking. My goal is to normalize woodworking by girls and women, and inspire more women to take action and start developing their building skills. With the help of a professional photographer we are going to make a photo shoot to support this goal. The pictures will be uploaded to Getty images, where publishers can download these. This way we...
